The Adriatic Sea: 11% More Cruisers in First Ten Months

The Croatian Adriatic Sea registered in the first ten months of this year, 447 cruises of foreign ships, which is an 11.2% increase as compared to the same period in last year. Those ships also carried 19.3% more passengers (500.208), as compared to 2004.

This year’s cruiser passengers realized 649 days of residence, which is an increase by 27.5% as compared to the same period in 2004. Each of those ships carried an average of 1.100 passengers.

Considering the foreign ships which entered the ports in the Croatian territorial waters for the first time, in those ten months most of those visits (429) were registered in the County of Dubrovnik – Neretva.

The County of Šibenik – Knin hosted nine of those cruises; seven cruises were registered in the County of Zadar and two in the County of Primorje – Gorski Kotar.

Further data provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics regarding all other Croatian ports visited by foreign cruisers during this year’s first ten months, most visits (406) were traced in the Port of Dubrovnik, followed by Korčula (60), Hvar (26), Split (25) and Šibenik (17).

In October, the Croatian territorial waters were visited by a total of 87 cruisers.

Those cruisers carried 97.259 passengers, each of those passengers spending in Croatia an average of 1.1 day.

According to the flags of this year"s cruisers – 106 came from Italy, 97 from the Bahamas, 65 from Panama, 35 from the Marshall Islands, 28 from Great Britain, 26 from Greece and 17 from France. (Hina)
