Vinkovci to spend HRK 1.5m to construct educational trails

Vinkovci City Council signed contracts on Tuesday for the construction of educational trails valued at almost HRK 1.5 million which will be financed entirely with EU funds.

"These projects contribute to achieving the objectives and priorities of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, to improve the resilience and environmental value of forest eco-systems by establishing educational trails with accompanying programmes," Vinvkoci Mayor Ivan Bosančić said.

He underscored that the projects also contribute to developing the tourism infrastructure in the city and its environs.

The director of the local VIA Agency for Development and Investment, Danijela Slipčević, announced that information-educational signboards will be placed along the entire trails, presenting the flora and fauna of that area.

Other attractions are expected along the trails so that students, visitors and tourists can become familiar with the fauna and flora of the Vinkovci area and to provide better conditions for an active stay in the forest.

The trails should be completed in five months' time.
