Tourist arrivals in June up 20.5 pct on year

The number of tourists vacationing in Croatia in June this year was 20.5 percent up from June 2010, and the number of overnights stays grew 21.3 percent. In the first six months of this year, tourist arrivals went up 10.3 percent and overnight stays increased 10.4 percent from the same period of last year, according to figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

A total of 1.59 million people vacationed in Croatia in June, 20.5 percent up from June 2010, making 7.8 million overnight stays in all types of accommodation facilities, an increase of 21.3 percent.

Foreign tourists accounted for 1.4 million of those arrivals, up 22.3 percent, and they made 7.16 million overnight stays, up 22.3 percent. Domestic tourists accounted for 179,400 of all arrivals in June, up eight percent, and they made 631,500 overnight stays, up 11 percent.

In the first six months, there were 3.4 million tourists (up 10.3%), who made 13.1 million overnight stays (up 10.4%). Foreign arrivals in the first six months increased by 12.2 percent to 2.7 million, and they accounted for 11.3 million overnight stays, up 11.5 percent from the same period of last year. Domestic tourists accounted for 670,700 arrivals and 1.8 million overnight stays, up 2.9% and 4% respectively.

Germans accounted for the largest share of foreign overnight stays, 26.5%, followed by Austrians with 11.3%, and Slovenians with 11.2%. (Hina)
