Tourism minister visits Naftalan special hospital
Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac on Tuesday visited new facilities of the Naftalan Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation in Ivanić Grad near Zagreb, describing it as a good example of medical and year-round tourism.
Brnjac said that Naftalan was also a positive example of continental tourism, which, she said, should also develop spa tourism just as some coastal destinations offered thalassotherapy. She noted that that, as well as the development of medical and year-round tourism, would be an important part of the future sustainable tourism strategy that was being prepared.
Zagreb County head Stjepan Kožić said that the new facilities at Naftalan cost HRK 71 million, a joint investment by the county, the town of Ivanić Grad and the hospital.
Naftalan director Goran Maričić said that the new facilities covered an area of 6,000 square metres, including three indoor swimming pools, a conference hall, a kitchen, a restaurant and other amenities.
He said that further expansion was possible and that the hospital's management was satisfied with visitor numbers since the opening of the new facilities in spring this year.
