Ship and passenger numbers at Croatian seaports increase

Croatian seaports and ferry ports received 36,100 vessels in June, which was a 30-percent rise compared to June 2014, and catered for 3.34 million passengers, a rise of 15%, according to figures released by the national statistical office (DZS).

In the first half of 2015, the number of ships and passengers passing through Croatia's seaports increased by 25% to 127,000 and by 6% to 9.2 million respectively.

In June, the busiest port was in Split, catering for 490,000 passengers, and the seaport in Dubrovnik followed with the registered number of passengers standing at 294,300.

The ferry port of Jablanac ranks third, (216,700 passengers).

On the other hand, cargo transport through Croatian seaports declined by 8.5% in June on the year and by 4% in H1 when 9.4 million tonnes of cargo was handled. In June alone, 1.7 million tonnes of cargo was handled.
