At the end of June, there were 112,500 registered commercial accommodation facilities in Croatia with a total of 1.13 million beds, which is a 12% increase in the number of facilities and a 6.5% increase in the number of beds compared with the same time in 2017, data from the eVisitor online tourist registration service shows. The increases are largely due to a rise in family-operated facilities.

The eVisitor system categorises tourist accommodation establishments as hotels, campsites, family homes and family farms.

Compared with June 2017, the number of family-run accommodation facilities increased by nearly 13,000 or 14.3% to 100,700, and the number of beds in them rose by 57,000 or 11% to 583,000, accounting for by far the largest portion of the commercial accommodation capacity. Their share had increased from 49.3% to 51.3%.

This type of accommodation was followed by 1,149 hotels, whose number rose by 42. The number of hotel beds increased by 1,900 to nearly 169,000. Despite the increase, the share of hotel beds in the total capacity declined to 15% from 15.6% last year.

The share of campsites in the total accommodation capacity dropped to 21.6% from 22.3% last year, despite the fact that their number rose by 55 to 485 and the number of beds in them increased by 6,500 to slightly over 245,000.

Increases were also registered in the category of family farms. Their number rose by 28 to 293, offering 2,150 beds or 33 more than at the end of June 2017.
