The head of the European Union Delegation to Croatia, Ambassador Paul Vandoren, officially visited Croatian Tourism Minister Damir Bajs on Friday, the Delegation said in a press release.

They exchanged views on number of topics, notably regarding the activities related to development of tourism in Croatia, in terms of removing impediments to investment related to property rights and construction permits, as well as the ministry's activities with the aim of prolonging the tourist season beyond the main summer season and improving the overall quality of the service provided.

Regarding big investment projects recently announced by the Croatian Government, of which five are in tourism, Vandoren "expressed support for the projects as being a step forward for the Croatian economy. He added that in spite of Croatia's significant potential in natural resources, there could always be room for improvement," said the press release.

Vandoren and Bajs also agreed that another advantage of Croatia's expected EU accession will be the availability of structural funds to increase the competitiveness of tourism. (Hina)
