Dalmatia Tower formally opened in Split
The highest building in Croatia, the Dalmatia Tower in the southern coastal city of Split, was formally opened on Tuesday evening on the City Day and the Feast of Saint Domnius, the city's patron saint.
The 135-metre-high building, designed by architect Otto Barić, has won two international awards: the European Property Award in the Development category as the best Commercial High Rise Architecture and the International Property Award as the best project in the Development category. The 30-storey complex has 214 rooms and suites, an indoor swimming pool on the 17th floor, a spa, a sauna, a steam room, a large conference room and a round-the-clock fitness centre.
The building also houses the AC Hotel, which is a part of the world's largest hotel chain Marriott International. The hotel opened last July as the first representative of this brand in Croatia.
Although the Dalmatia Tower has been operational for ten months, it was formally presented to the public only now.
Investor Josip Komar said that nearly a thousand people work in the Dalmatia Tower, including at least 700 from the IT sector, adding that besides the AC Hotel, a lot of international companies also have their offices in the building.
The opening ceremony was attended, among others, by Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović, US Ambassador Nathalie Rayes, State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Sport Tonći Glavina, and a number of prominent public figures from Split and Croatia.
