The intensive promotion of Croatian tourism continues during this week at fairs in Vienna, San Sebastian, Paris and Budapest.

This year’s large tourist fair UTAZAS in Budapest (16 - 19 March), is especially important to Croatia since Croatia participates in the role of the fair’s partner country, i.e. guest of honor.

Besides occupying a 154 m2 large stand, the Croatian tourist offer will also be represented during a special evening organized at the Palace of Art, inviting 800 guests from politics, showbiz and the media. The evening includes appearances from the Croatian National Theatre in Split and the ensemble ‘Bonaca.

All those attending the program will be welcomed by Želimir Kramarić, Assistant Minister for Tourist Policy and Market as well as by Niko Bulić, director of the Croatian National Tourist Board.

The UTAZAS fair is very important to Croatian tourism since over 80% of the individual tourists arrive from Hungary.

In 2005, Croatia registered nearly 600 000 French tourists with almost 2 million night stays. Based on those results, the expectations for the upcoming season are even higher. For this year, Croatia decided to represent itself on French tourist fairs according to a special strategy, by introducing the visitors to new tourist offers divided according to the country’s individual regions (clusters). In that way, each region is standing for a special, miscellaneous tourist offer.

The SMT fair in Paris (16 – 19 March), being one of the most important tourist fairs in France, pooled over 100 000 visitors of a wider audience and over 5 000 tourist professionals, in 2005. This year the HTZ occupied a 50m2 large area in cooperation with 7 tourist offices and tourist companies.
