Croatian tourism presented at Belgrade Fair

Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) head Niko Bulic presented Croatia's tourism services for this year at the Belgrade Fair on Friday, announcing that Croatia would be the partner country at the 33rd International Tourism Trade Fairs Association (ITTFA) meeting in Belgrade on February 24-27.



Nearly 90,000 Serbian tourists visited Croatia last year, generating more than 481,000 nights, Bulic told press, inviting Serbian tourists to spend their vacations in Croatia.



He said the number of Serbian tourists visiting Croatia had been increasing since 2003 and that he expected further growth, also in the number of Croatian arrivals and nights in Serbia.



Bulic said 2010 was a record year for Croatian tourism, with about 11 million arrivals, of which 90 per cent from abroad, and more than 61.3 million nights.



He said Croatia had invested strongly in its tourism, notably in hotels, adding that Croatia wanted to remain globally recognised as a stylish destination which did not focus only on mass tourism.



Croatian Ambassador to Belgrade Zeljko Kupresak said Croatia Airlines and Serbia's Jat Airways agreed to introduce direct Belgrade-Dubrovnik flights from June to September and to restore Pula-Belgrade flights during the summer, adding that interest was high in introducing Belgrade-Split flights as well.



As for the possibility of year-round Belgrade-Zagreb flights, Kupresak said this depended on commercial conditions.



According to announcements, 885 exhibitors from 43 countries will participate at this year's ITTFA. (Hina)
