Croatia's tourism revenues up 5.7% in H1 2013

The revenues from the tourist trade in the first six months of 2013 increased by 5.7% to EUR 2.077 billion in comparison to the corresponding period of 2012, according to the statistics kept by the Croatian National Bank (HNB).

The tourism sector's share in Croatia's GDP was 9.9% in H1 2013, rising mildly from H1 2012, the Tourism Ministry said in a statement on Sunday, citing the HNB statistics.

Following a rise in tourism revenues in Q1 2013, the positive trend continued in Q2 2013 when the revenues from this sector came to EUR 1.77 billion, up by 6% year on year.

The tourism sector's share in GDP in Q2 rose by one percentage point to 16.1%.

"The rise in financial indicators regarding the tourism sector clearly reflects the course of this year's season which is turning out to be more successful than the season in 2012, measured by all statistical data so far," Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin was quoted as saying.

He praised all those engaged in the tourism trade for their commitment and expressed satisfaction with cooperation between his ministry and the private sector. (Hina)
