Brussels: Presentation of Croatia's Potential in Tourism
Zdenko Mičić, State Secretary for Tourism presented on Wednesday evening in Brussels the Croatia’s potential and development plans in tourism to a group of Belgian journalists.
'Croatian is a small country enjoying a rather large potential in tourism', said Mičić, adding that 10 million tourists had visited Croatia in 2005.
As far as Belgium is concerned, 93 thousand Belgian tourists visited Croatia during the last year. Including the past several years, Croatia registered a growing trend regarding Belgian tourists – from 2001 until 2005 their number of visits has more than doubled.
State Secretary Mičić presented development project in the sector of tourism, pointing out the fact that only the city of Rovinj had received, during the last three years, investments in the value of HRK 2.5 billion.
Besides 200 already existing small family hotels, Croatia intends to build 300 more during the next 3 years; there are also plans to develop nautical tourism, increase the standards of accommodation capacities and to build new capacities.
At the end of the day, followed a so-called 'Croatian Dinner' where 400 guests had the opportunity to enjoy excellent food as well as a bit of Croatian culture.
A similar presentation will be held on Thursday evening in Paris. (Hina)
