According to the German ADAC automobile club, Croatian campsites have seen the highest increase in quality in Europe, of 2.1%, which ranks them second, after those in the Netherlands, which are stagnating, the Croatian Camping Union (KUH) has said.

ADAC rates and recommends the best campsites in Europe and this year its ranking includes 134 Croatian campsites, eight more than last year. Three new campsites were rated as Superplatz 2020, a designation given to the very best campsites in Europe.

The Aminess Camping Sirena in Novigrad, Istra Premium Camping Resort in Funtana and the Camping Cikat on the island of Mali Losinj, have joined the list of ten 'old' Superplatz sites, six of which are located in Istria, four in Primorje-Gorski Kotar, two in Zadar and one in Lika-Senj counties.

ADAC ranked the Istra Premium Camping Resort in Funtana in first place for "Innovation and Development."

ADAC recently presented its camping guide at the CMT tourism fair in Stuttgart indicating that bednights at campsites and sale of camping vehicles increased by 3% in Europe last year, however, the number of camping sites stagnated.

In addition to ADAC's rating, Croatian campsites have received recognition from some very important touroperators in Europe.

According to KUH data, Croatia has 433 medium-sized campsites and 301 smaller ones. Seven sites have 5-star ratings, 66 are rated with 4 stars. These are campsites of exceptionally high quality and they account for almost 50% of all of Croatia's campsites.
