Owing to grants from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the Daruvar Spa is undergoing a comprehensive renovation and construction of new accommodation facilities, in which a total of €17 million will be invested.

Of that amount, €13 million was secured from the NRRP, Bjelovar-Bilogora County Prefect Marko Marušić, Daruvar Mayor Damir Lneniček and the spa director Ratko Vuković said at a press conference on Monday.

"The Daruvar spa already represents the flagship of tourism in our county, and after the update, I'm sure it will further strengthen the place. This important project will stimulate the development of the economy in Daruvar and the county, contributing at the same time to the development of the county's tourism," Marušić said.

He added that renovation, expansion and modernisation will be key elements that will make Daruvar Spa an even more desirable tourist destination. "With this project, our county will position itself as an attractive destination outside Croatia's borders," concluded Marušić.

Beer and oak baths

Presenting the project, Vuković explained that the plan is to build a tourist and recreation centre building with a photovoltaic power plant, and that the existing 77 rooms will be reconstructed, and that an additional 13 rooms and new swimming pools will be built. "This is the biggest investment in the Daruvar spa since 1980," Vuković said, adding that he was particularly pleased that after the investment, the spa will be the only one in Croatia to have beer-filled and oak baths.
