The Finnish Presidency, the European Commission and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus are organizing on the 16th and 17th of November 2006, the 5th European Tourism Forum (http://www.etfcyprus2006.com.cy/index.htm), the largest annual tourism event initiated by the Commission.
Forum participants will be officials of the EC as well as representatives of ministries in charge of tourism in EU member countries and those countries which are currently still EU candidates.
The Forum will focus on the New Opportunities in the tourism industry for the Consumer, the Employer, the Investor and the Tourist Destination. Issues of electronic reservations, consumer security, wellness and cruise tourism, timesharing, public-private partnerships, mobility and employability will be presented, discussed and debated amongst academics and practitioners in the industry.
Representatives of the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development will also participate at the Forum. Croatia’s attendance is important due to two facts, i.e. Croatia started to cooperate with the EC Counseling Committee for Tourism during the year 2005 and Croatia participated as a non-member country in a competition for European tourist destination excellence in the sub-category: “New rural destinations”, along with only 15 other EU member countries.
