The director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) has assessed that the number of arrivals of tourists during the Easter holidays gives the country a reason to expect a successful year as regards tourism.
"The Easter holidays have passed in a positive tourist atmosphere, which is the best herald of yet another successful tourist year," Niko Bulić said in the Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik on Easter Monday.
According to him, the goal is to have a two-percent rise in the number of the overnight stays from the most successful 2005 year and to increase financial effects by three to five percent in comparison to last year.
Bulić said that he was happy to hear that all hotels that opened their doors for the Easter holidays were very well prepared for guests.
He said that apart from guests from Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Germany who are traditional guests for Easter, there was a significant number of Spanish, French, British, Irish, Dutch and Scandinavian tourists this time.
According to preliminary figures released by hotels and local tourist boards, over 40.000 guests were in Croatian coastal resorts for this Easter. (Hina)
