Tourist demand for Croatia's destinations in Italy continues to grow
Croatia is the most sought-after destination by Italians when it comes to nautical, outdoor and camping segments, and although tourist trends from that market will depend mostly on the economic situation this year, demand from that market is expected to continue growing, HTZ reported.
The Borsa Internazionale del Turisimo (BIT) international tourism fair in Milan took place from 12 to 14 February and Croatia's tourist trade was promoted by the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) office in Italy with six co-exhibitors from Kvarner, Lika-Senjska, Zadar and Šibenik-Knin County and the cities of Opatija and Rab."The BIT fair is the most important international tourist event in northern Italy for business and general audiences, and we have noted great interest in Croatia. The largest number of visitors' enquiries related to nautical, outdoor offers, beaches and islands, camping offers and transport connections," the director of the HTZ office in Milan, Viviana Vukelić, said.
She also announced that the promotion in Italy will continue in March at the tourism fair in Naples, as well as a series of business workshops and presentations on Croatia's tourism industry.
HTZ director Kristjan Staničić said that HTZ is very satisfied with the feedback from the BIT fair.
So far in 2023, more than 17,000 Italians have travelled to Croatia, generating 45,000 overnight stays, which is a seven percent increase compared to the same period in 2019, the HTZ underlined.
