​Tourist arrivals in November up 13% y-o-y

Croatia registered over 375,000 arrivals and 941,000 nights in November, which was up 13% and 1% on the year, respectively, the National Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Tuesday. Broken down by county, Istria recorded the largest number of nights (150,000), while broken down by destination, the largest number of nights was registered in the City of Zagreb.

Most nights were generated by domestic tourists (314,000), followed by those from Slovenia (87,000), Germany (64,000), Austria (63,000) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (56,000).

Most nights were generated in hotels (532,000) and household accommodation (190,000).

In the first 11 months of this year, 20.2 million arrivals and 106.8 million nights were registered, up 9% and 3% on the year, respectively, while being the same as the numbers generated in 2019.

In those 11 months, most nights were generated by tourists from Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac said 2023 was a successful tourism year and that she was "confident we will enter 2024 with an even stronger trend of the development of our year-round tourism."

Speaking of this month, HTZ director Kristjan Staničić said "we expect a turnover increase and numerous domestic and foreign guests," notably from Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Austria and Germany. "Our goal is to reinforce Croatia's tourist results during December, both in terms of turnover and revenue, which will be record high." (Hina)
