​Number of visits by foreign cruise ships in Jan-July 2018 up 2.7%

A total of 344 visits by foreign cruise ships were recorded in the Croatian Adriatic in the first seven months of 2018, an increase of 2.7% over the same period in 2017, according to data released by the national statistical office. The ships brought 11.1% more passengers than last year, or 518,773 in total. The visits were made by 60 cruise ships, which spent 704 days in Croatian seaports, 4.5% less than last year.

The vessels sailed under the flags of 11 countries, most of them flying the flags of the Bahamas (85), Malta (78), Panama (60) and Italy (47).

As usual, most of the cruise ships docked in Dubrovnik-Neretva County (56.4%) and Split-Dalmatia County (23.3%). The rest were registered in the four other coastal counties.

The number of visits by foreign cruise ships in July 2018 fell by 1% compared with July 2017, while their number in June this year was 17.4 higher than in the same month last year, which was the highest annual increase this year. (Hina)
