There were 88,000 domestic guests in Croatia's commercial accommodation facilities in March 2021, which is 103% more compared with March 2020, and they generated 184,100 overnight stays, an increase of 74%, show data from the national statistical office (DZS).

Commercial accommodation facilities reported a total of 132,600 guests in March 2021, and they generated 359,600 overnight stays, which are increases of 27% and 24.2% respectively compared with March 2020, when a lockdown was imposed in Croatia and most of Europe due to the coronavirus pandemic, which was not the case this March, so there were more tourists despite the measures restricting travel.

In March 2021, there were 44,600 foreign guests in commercial accommodation facilities, or 27% fewer than in March 2020, and they generated 175,500 overnight stays, a 4.5% decrease on the year.

In the first three months of 2021, Croatia's commercial accommodation facilities reported 324,300 guests and 853,7000 overnight stays, which are decreases of 46% and 40% respectively compared with the first three months of 2020.

Domestic guests generated 243,000 arrivals and 523,700 overnight stays, the numbers dropping by 1.7% and 3.8% respectively y-o-y.

At the same time, there were 81,400 foreign tourists, or 77% fewer, and they generated 330,000 overnight stays, a drop of 63.4% on the year.

Both in March and in the first three months of 2021, most foreign tourists were from Germany, Austria and Italy.
