The government on Thursday adopted a national plan for sustainable tourism until 2027 and an action plan for its implementation until 2025, with Minister Nikolina Brnjac saying that nearly €1 billion is available from the EU and the state budget for implementing the measures.

The two plans were drawn up in line with the law on the strategic planning and managing of Croatia's development.

The National Plan defines the implementation of the goals of the sustainable tourism development strategy and the national development strategy until 2030 in the field of tourism, and it is aligned with the fundamental documents and policies of the EU and Croatia, the minister said.

The National Plan comprises ten goals and measures, while the Action Plan comprises 21 measures and a framework for their evaluation.

Nearly €1 billion is envisaged for implementing the National Plan measures and projects will be financed from the 2021-27 EU budget, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the state budget, Brnjac said.

The Tourism Fund will be another financing source with funds under the law on unvalued construction land, she said, adding that the envisaged funds facilitate the development of sustainable tourism.
