More departures than arrivals in Split indicate that peak season is dying down

The ferry port as well as the airport in the biggest Croatian Adriatic city of Split are registering more departures of guests than the arrivals this weekend, which reflects that the peak season is winding down.

About 70,000 passengers are expected to pass through the Split ferry port on Saturday and Sunday, and 60% of them are travellers who are leaving islands while 40% are those heading for islands, an executive of the Jadrolinija's office in Split told Hina on Saturday morning.
 
A source from the Airport has said that during Saturday, the airport is due to handle about 30,000 passengers, and 16,000 of them are on their way back to home, while 14,000 are arriving in Dalmatia.
 
In the first two weeks of this August, the number of passengers at the airport increased 4% compared to the corresponding period in 2018.
 
The number of passengers handled by the airport so far this year is 2.2 million, and the statistics will increase by an additional 1.1 million passengers until the end of 2019, the same source said.
 
About 400 buses are due to pass through Split's main bus station on Saturday, with a rising number of Zagreb-bound services, the bus station director Mate Jujnovic said. (Hina/FaH)
