Minister presents Croatia's Tourism Act at UN Tourism, visits FITUR

​Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac presented Croatia's new Tourism Act at the Madrid headquarters of UN Tourism, the former World Tourism Organization, and visited the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), where Croatia is featured, the ministry said on Thursday.

Brnjac presented Croatia's new Tourism Act at the invitation of UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili. She also chaired a session of the organisation's Committee on Tourism and Sustainability, presenting Croatia's work in the committee to date and its tourism reform.

At the meeting, Costa Rica took over from Croatia as committee chair, while Croatia will be deputy chair.

"Croatia is already recognised in the world as a leader of sustainable tourism development," Brnjac said. "Our examples and good practices will serve to our colleagues in the World Tourism Organization as guidelines for tourism development in other world destinations also."

FITUR features 152 countries. On its fringes, Brnjac met with her Italian and Costa Rica counterparts, Daniela Santache and William Rodríguez López, respectively.
