The largest tourism fair in Hungary, Utazas, taking place from 22 to 25 February in Budapest, features exhibitors from countries around the world, including Croatia, in which Hungarian travellers are showing increasing interest, with 20% more visitors this year than last year, the HTZ said on Friday.

At the travel exhibition in Budapest, Croatia is represented by the HTZ (Croatian National ourist Board) Representative Office in Hungary, whose director Ivana Herceg said this was an ideal opportunity to further strengthen the recognition of Croatia as a tourist destination on that market.

"Already on the first day of the fair, we held numerous meetings with different partners, and many media representatives expressed great interest in study trips to Croatia. Such information proves that interest in Croatian destinations continues to grow," added Herceg.

The great interest of Hungarians in visiting Croatia is also indicated by the results so far this year, according to which more than 7,000 visitors have arrived, or 20% more than in the same period in 2023, and they generated nearly 30,000 overnight stays, which is an even larger increase of 64%.

"During the Utazas fair, we will be able to further evaluate the situation on the Hungarian market, which is traditionally among the most important ones for Croatian tourism. The current trends and indicators are encouraging, as according to them Croatia is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Hungarian travellers, even for trips outside the main summer season," said Herceg.
