Croatia earned €9.44 billion in revenues from foreign tourists in the first nine months of 2019, which is an increase of €769 million or 9% over the same period in 2018, the Tourism Ministry said on Tuesday citing data from the Croatian National Bank.

"The focus of this government is on the growth and development of quality tourism services, and this year's results are the best proof of increased value of the Croatian tourism industry, which has seen revenues growing at nearly twice the rate of tourism turnover growth. More specifically, this year tourist arrivals increased by 5%, while revenues rose by 9%," Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said.

He said he expected tourism revenues to increase by an additional HRK 1.35 billion in 2020, thanks in part to the introduction of a Croatian Tourist Card, which he said would add to the value of tourism services and increase the visibility of Croatia on the global tourism market.

In the third quarter of 2019, compared with the same period in 2018, revenues from foreign tourists increased by €553 million or 9% to €6.64 billion.

The figures show that 70.3% of the revenues generated in the first nine months of 2019 were generated in the third quarter.
