Croatia's current account surplus EUR 1.35bn in 2018, says central bank

​Last year Croatia's current account ran a surplus of 1.35 billion euro with an increased deficit in exchange of goods, and continued positive trends in foreign trade of services, particularly impacted by good tourism results and revenue from consumption by foreign tourists which exceeded 10 billion euro for the first time ever, show the latest statistics released by the Croatian National Bank (HNB) on Friday.

HNB report shows that this is the sixth year in a row for Croatia to record a surplus in  the current account even though in 2018 it was by 441 million euro or 24.6% less than in 2017.

Last year's surplus amounted to 2.6% of GDP which is 1.1 percentage points less than in 2017 when it amounted to 3.7%.
