Croatia ranked 4th most successful tourist destination, according to ITB World Travel Trends Report

Croatia was ranked fourth most successful tourist destination in the world in 2010 owing to an expected 7% increase of international tourist arrivals, according to the ITB World Travel Trends Report 2010/2011, made for the world travel trade show ITB in Berlin, scheduled for March 2011. Croatian Tourism Minister Damir Bajs and the president of the association of Croatian travel agencies (UPHA), Boris Zgomba, presented the report to the press at the Tourism Ministry on Monday. Bajs said Croatia's position was excellent, even more so as the first three positions were taken my South Korea, China and Germany, the countries with growing markets.

Croatia is followed by Mexico.

Total spending by international travelers is expected to increase by 7% to EUR 781 billion this year, according to the report. Given the 9% spending decline in 2009, this represents a good recovery but leaves the 2010 figure still below the 2008 record of EUR 800 billion. (Hina)
