Croatia can expect first visitors from China in September - daily

Croatia will conclude agreements with five European countries on tourist arrivals in June, while first guests from China can be expected two months later, according to the Jutarnji List daily's article headlined "A glimmer of hope for tourist season" published on Tuesday.

If the epidemiological situation in Croatia and worldwide remains stable until this autumn, in late August and in early September Croatia could expect the arrivals of first Chinese tourists after the COVID-19 epidemic, as indicated by sources in the Croatian tourism ministry.

The scenario depends on the re-establishment of air transport between China and Hungary, since Budapest is a hub for the arrival of Chinese citizens in Europe.

The daily newspaper recalls that Croatia has already agreed with Slovenia about the restoration of cross-border traffic.

It seems very likely that as of 1 June, Croatia will conclude agreements on travel with Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia as well as with Germany in mid-June, according to the newspaper.

The Slovenian government has already decided that Croatians are free to cross the border into Slovenia without having to undergo mandatory quarantine as the two neighbours have similar epidemiological situations.

The Czech Republic is planning to ease travel between the central European country and other countries, including Croatia, deemed safe from risks of coronavirus from June 8.
