Cavtat, Zagreb, Rijeka among 20 safest European destinations post-coronavirus

American business magazine Forbes featured a list of 20 European best destinations for post-coronavirus travel according to the European Best Destinations Organisation (EBD), which includes Zagreb, Rijeka and Cavtat.

EBD is an organisation which has already featured Croatia on several of its best destinations' lists in various categories, including Zagreb being voted the best Christmas Market in Europe several times.

Now EBD placed Zagreb among the 20 best and safest places for post-coronavirus travel and tourism. In addition to Croatia, countries with several destinations featured on the list are Greece and Portugal.

Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, ranked first, Corfu, Greece is in the second place, while the Croatian town of Cavtat is followed by the Portuguese Azores Islands and Preveza, Greece which came in the fourth and fifth place respectively. The list also features Kotor in Montenegro, Warsaw, Vienna, Bohinj in Slovenia, Malta and other places.

Cavtat, which ranked best among destinations in Croatia, was described as a place popular with celebrities, families, lovers of gastronomy, culture, nature and watersports, while Zagreb came eighth and Rijeka 12th.

For each destination a description is given of what tourists can expect there, including basic information and information on attractions and other things.

EBD's list was also released in Forbes magazine, the National Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) reported on Monday, and HTZ Director Kristjan Stanicic saw this as yet another confirmation of Croatia's international status as a quality and safe tourist destination, which has all the prerequisites for tourism in the coming months.
