The Croatian Rural Tourism Association (URTH) proposes that the definition of the agritourism farms (TPG) should be added to the Act on Hospitality and Catering Activities in order to regulate hospitality services of all businesses in the agricultural sector.

The association presented its legislative proposals at its assembly in Međimurje in a bid to initiate a public discussion on regulating tourism in the rural areas and on farms, the URTH said in a press release.

The association recalls that the 2030 sustainable tourism strategy has recognised rural agritourism as a crucial specific form of the tourism industry which should be encouraged.

The association is advocating legislative changes that will enable visitors and guests at such TPG to taste and buy products made locally.

It also calls for a wider variety of activities such as apitourism, team building, animal spotting and bird watching as activities which agritourism farms and businesses can offer in their tourism segment.

Approximately 1,000 farmers specialise also in rural tourism, the association says.
