Croatia ranked 2nd in Europe in campsite nights' share in all nights While the number of nights spent on campsites in the EU27 account for an average 15 per cent of nights in tourist accommodation, in Croatia they account for 34.6 per cent of all nights, ranking Croatia second among EU27, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, Eurostat said on Friday. In the European Union, the number of nights spent on campsites accounts for the highest number of all nights in Denmark (43 per cent) and the lowest in Poland (one per cent). There were 26,000 camps with accommodation for some 10 million people in the EU in 2008, logging 354 million nights.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel visiting Dubrovnik The Hollywood actor couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel are vacationing in the southern Croatian resort city of Dubrovnik. They are staying at the "Villa Dubrovnik" hotel that was reopened a few days ago after renovation. On Wednesday afternoon, the couple took a walk in the Stradun, the main street of the city's mediaeval centre, and visited historic buildings there.

Croatian tourism successfully presented in China The importance of Croatian-Chinese cooperation and Croatia's promotion on the Chinese market were the topics of Friday's meeting between the Croatian tourism delegation headed by the Tourism Minister Damir Bajs and representatives of the Chinese National Tourism Administration (CNTA) in Beijing. The meeting marked the end of a week-long presentation of Croatian tourism in China, the Croatian Tourism Ministry said in a press release. Minister Bajs held talks with CNTA Vice-President Du Jiang, Chinese tourism experts said that despite the global economic crisis, they had not adopted measures to restrict tourist departures, and said they were satisfied with the increasing promotion of Croatia on the Chinese market.

Croatia to promote its conference tourism in Frankfurt The Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) will promote Croatia's opportunities for conference tourism and tourism in general at the conference tourism and incentive travel show IMEX 2010 in Frankfurt, Germany, from May 25 to 27, HTZ said on Monday. HTZ said its Convention and Incentive Bureau would step up its activities on international markets this year in order help increase tourism revenues, adding that participants in conferences and incentive events spent four to five times more on average than ordinary tourists.

Croatia and Slovenia together promote their tourism services in China Croatia and Slovenia will present together their tourist sectors in Beijing and Shanghai next week, hoping to attract more Chinese tourists, who in 2009 were the fourth biggest tourist spenders in the world, with US 43.5 billion. This was stated at a news conference held at the Croatian Tourism Ministry on Friday by the leading people of the Croatian and Slovenian tourism sectors. The presentations to be held in Beijing and Shanghai on May 25 and 27 will include business workshops organized by Croatian and Slovenian travel agencies and their Chinese partners, meetings with Chinese officials, and dinners. The Shanghai presentation will coincide with the international tourism fair in that city (held on May 27-29) and the already opened World Exhibition EXPO.
