Croatia ranked 20th on list of world's cleanest countries The US magazine Forbes on Saturday published a list of the world"s cleanest countries, ranked according to an index developed by Columbia and Yale Universities, with Croatia ranking 20th on the global scale and first in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. With an Environmental Performance Index (EPI) score of 84.6 out of 100, Croatia takes 20th place on the list of the cleanest countries, which is topped by Switzerland and Scandinavian countries. Economic Council endorses Tourism Action PlanThis year"s Tourism Action Plan envisages a seasonal lifting of visa requirements for Russia and Ukraine, relieving the sector from quasi-taxes to the Croatian Composers" Society and Croatian Radio and Television as well as from monument annuity, stated the Minister of Tourism Damir Bajs on Wednesday. CroTour tourism fair to be held on 1-5 April The international tourism fair CroTour 2009, to be held at the Zagreb Trade Fair Centre on 1-5 April, will attract 272 exhibitors from 25 countries, which is more than last year, the organizers of the event said at a news conference on Monday.

Croatia Boat Show opens in Split Tourism Minister Damir Bajs opened in the southern seaport of Split on Saturday the 11th international Croatia Boat Show, at which 1,355 exhibitors are showing some 450 boats, including about 30 sailboats.
The fair was organized by the Profectus Company and is open until April 5.
"When many fairs around the world are closing because of the coming economic crisis, this boat fair is being organized in Split and will prompt guests from around the world to arrive in Split aboard some 200 private planes. Fifty thousand visitors are expected at the fair which, with extensive media coverage, is an important promotion of Croatia as a tourist destination," said Bajs.28.03.2009. | Page

A total of 48 percent of EU residents plan to spend their summer vacation this year in their own country. The most attractive destinations are Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Greece and Great Britain.
