Government adopts action plan for tourist season 2010 The main goals in the Croatian tourism industry in 2010 are keeping the country's current share in overall arrivals in Europe and working to attract domestic tourists, Tourism Minister Damir Bajs said at a government session on Wednesday, presenting an analysis of the tourism industry in 2009 and a draft action plan for this year. "If we accomplish those two goals, we can expect a good year," Bajs said, adding that Croatia had to keep its two-percent share in overall tourist arrivals in Europe. Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor called on all ministries to join in preparations for this year's tourist season, and Transport Minister Bozidar Kalmeta said the road, maritime and air transport infrastructure would be ready for it.

UNWTO secretary-general says optimistic about Croatian tourism
UN World Tourist Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary-General Taleb Rifai met Croatian Tourism Minister Damir Bajs in Berlin on Thursday, voicing optimism about Croatia's tourism which he said could achieve better results than expected this year. The two officials met at the ITB tourism exchange. Speaking of estimates for Mediterranean countries, Rifai said they could end the year with a 2-3 per cent growth. He added Croatian tourism was a success story. Bajs said that despite estimates, one should be cautious as the year would certainly not be easy.

Croatian, Albanian tourism ministers hold talks
Albanian Tourism Minister Ferdinand Xhaferaj on Saturday met with his Croatian counterpart Damir Bajs, the Croatian Tourism Ministry said in a press release. Xhaferaj invited Bajs to visit Albania to help the development of Albanian tourism. He said Croatia was the leading tourism country in southeast Europe, not only in terms of arrivals and nights, but also in terms of the quality of its offer.

Croatian tourism minister invites Serbians to spend their summer holidays in Croatia
Croatian Tourism Minister Damir Bajs on Thursday invited Serbians to spend their summer holidays in Croatia, promising them good service, safety and hospitality. Presenting the Croatian tourist sector at an international fair in Belgrade, Bajs said that the number of Serbian tourists vacationing in Croatia had been on the rise, adding that holidaymakers could expect "value for their money and maximum-quality service". Bajs said he and Serbian Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic had discussed the possibility of introducing flights from Belgrade to Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and other destinations, in addition to flight service between Belgrade and the northern Croatian Adriatic city of Pula which had already been introduced. He mentioned the possibility of flight service between Croatian cities and Nis, southern Serbia.

Croatia's tourism services to be presented at 17 int'l fairs Croatia's tourism will be presented at 17 international fairs in February. The Croatian Tourism Board will hold the first so-called national presentations in Brussels and Prague this week - at the "Holiday World" fair to be held in Prague on 4-7 February and at the Vacances fair to be held in Brussels on 4-8 February.
