​Gov't gives consent for annex to Kupari 1 contractThe government on Tuesday gave its consent to the State Assets Ministry to sign with the Avenue Ulaganja investment company an annex to a contract on the Kupari 1 tourism development project, defining new deadlines for submissions of a letter of intent from the new hotel operator and physical planning data. In March 2016, the government signed with the bidders Avenija Ulaganja and Avenue Osteuropa a contract the realisation of Kupari 1, a project estimated at over HRK 700 million. 10.04.2018. | News

Cappelli: Tourist industry not heading towards mass tourism, but sustainabilityThe Croatian tourist industry is not heading towards mass tourism, but integral development, sustainability and quality, which is why there is growing demand for Croatia, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli told Hina in an interview. "This year we expect a 7% increase in tourism turnover over 2017 and tourism investment to increase to nearly a billion euros. Over 70 new regular flights introduced from March to OctoberBetween March 25 and October 27, Croatia has over 70 new regular flights, while the total number is 15% higher than last year, over 34,400, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) said in a press release on Thursday. HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic says one of the key goals is to position Croatia as an attractive year-round destination with very good transport connections and that flights are key for extending tourist turnover in the shoulder seasons, the press release said. Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli believes flights are important also for expanding demand in markets with the highest growth potential and that they make it possible for Croatia to become an even more competitive and interesting destination. 05.04.2018. | News

In the article headlined "The Best Beach Holidays in Europe" CN Traveller said that Europe is blessed with some of the world's most sensational coastlines and that "few tropical paradises can compete with the magnetic culture of Europe's seaside enclaves: the barefoot-chic island attitude, the boho lifestyles, wild and free." ​Croatian coastal counties involved in Mediterranean cycle route projectA workshop was held in Dubrovnik last week as part of the EU Mediterranean cycle route project. The Mediterranean cycle route for sustainable coastal tourism, or MedCycleTour, runs through 11 countries, from Cadiz in Spain, via France, Italy and Croatia to Greece and Cyprus. It is considered one of the routes with the largest tourism potential. All seven Croatian coastal counties are included in the project, as the Mediterranean cycle route will run the entire length of the Croatian Adriatic coast. Cappelli: 2017 revenues best proof of progress in Croatia's tourism sectorTourism revenues in 2017, when 9.5 billion euro was earned from services provided to foreign guests, are the best proof of how much the Croatian tourism sector has advanced, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said on Friday. In his comment on statistics released by the Croatian National Bank on 9.5 billion euro revenues from foreign visitors, a 10% (nearly EUR 860 million euro) increase from 2016, Cappelli said that the number of foreign visitors last year increased by 14% to 16.5 million and their overnight stays by 12% to 90 million year-on-year. 30.03.2018. | News
