SightRun mobile app, invented by Croat startup, helps tourists discover GrazThe application SightRun developed by the Croatian startup SightRun has been added to programmes offered to tourists in the Austrian city of Graz, the co-founder of the Croatian startup, Sandra Bortek, said on Tuesday. SightRun is a mobile app for audio guided running tours. According to information provided on the company's web site, "with SightRun App you can run in a new city whenever you like." The application can help tourists discover a new city. 08.05.2018. | News

Travel agencies bring 2.2 mn foreign tourists in Croatia in 2017Croatian travel agencies arranged trips with overnight stays in Croatia for 2.2 million foreign tourists, who realised 13.6 million tourist nights. Foreign tourists realised an average of six tourist nights in Croatia, according to the national statistical office (DZS). In 2017, the number of foreign tourists whose travels to Croatia were organised by Croatian travel agencies increased by 9.0% and the number of tourist nights by 7.0%, as compared to 2016.  06.05.2018. | News
Ultra Europe music festival to enjoy government support until 2022The Croatian government decided on Friday to financially support the Ultra Europe electronic music festival in Split until 2022 because of its positive multiplier effects on the national economy and promotion of Croatia as a tourist destination. Since 2013, when it was first held in Croatia, the festival has brought numerous benefits to Split, the tourist industry and the state budget, as shown by a study which the Tourism Ministry commissioned from the Institute of Public Finance, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said at a cabinet meeting in Split. 04.05.2018. | News
​First Marriott hotel in Croatia to be opened in Split in 2019Marriott International, a global hotel chain, is going to open its first hotel in Croatia and the "Courtyard by Marriott" will be located in the Dalmatia Tower high-rise building, according to a press release issued on Friday by the Westgate Tower investor that is constructing the high-rise building. The Westgate Tower project in the biggest Croatian Adriatic city of Split consists of two towers. One of them houses headquarters of OTP Splitska Banka Group. The other tower is being now extended and it will be the tallest edifice in Croatia once it is finished. 04.05.2018. | News
10% more tourists registered in Croatia in first 4 months of 2018As many as 1.9 million tourist arrivals were registered in Croatia from the start of 2018 until 30 April, which was a 10% rise year on year, and the number of overnight stays increased by 9% to 5.1 million, the National Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Wednesday, citing data from the eVisitor and eCrew tourist registration systems. Broken down by region, Istria and Kvarner (broader Rijeka area) registered 1.4 million and 791,000 overnight stays respectively. Split-Dalmatia County followed with 664,000. Broken down by nationality, the largest number of overnight stays were made by the Slovenians (565,000), German passport-holders (559,000) and Austrians (435,000). 02.05.2018. | News
Tourism season should be good but lack of labour existsIndications on the market and the results of sales promise a good tourism year which has already been seen in turnover in the first few months of the year however the problem of the lack of staff is bothering a lot of companies, particularly smaller companies in hospitality, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) said on Tuesday. The lack of labour in the tourism sector was one of the main topics at a meeting between the HGK and representatives from the tourism sector. Club Adriatic sold to Swiss-based Immo Invest for HRK 54 mnThe Restructuring and Sale Centre (CERP) on Wednesday signed a HRK 54 million (EUR 7.3 million) contract with the Swiss company Immo Invest Partner on the sale of three business stakes or 100% of the founding capital of the Club Adriatic tourism company. The contract on the transfer of Club Adriatic shares was signed by CERP director Milan Plecas and the managing director of Immo Partner AG, Dzek Djoric, CERP reported on its web site. 15.04.2018. | News
