Croatian coastal towns attract most incomersThe latest data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics about population migration indicates that small and medium-sized towns on the coast attract the most newcomers - nine out of ten towns with the highest number of migrated residents are located on the coast, which is mostly due to development boosted by tourism and new jobs opening. Dubrovnik has attracted the most incomers. Minister: New tourism-related laws aimed at creating new identity of CroatiaTourism Minister Gari Cappelli said on Tuesday that the three tourism-related bills which the government forwarded to the parliament on late October were prerequisites for creating a new competitive identity of Croatia, and that it was the government's duty to develop a strategy for managing Croatia's positive perception. "Croatia must create a new image and move towards this topic with full responsibility, professionalism and maturity. Canopy by Hilton hotel opens in ZagrebThe EUR 8 million Canopy by Hilton hotel opened in Zagreb on Monday, with Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli saying at the opening ceremony that EUR 1.05 billion would be invested in the Croatian tourist trade in 2019, following EUR 940 million worth of investments this year. This is the first hotel of the Canopy brand in continental Europe, and hotels of this brand will also be opened in London, Madrid and Paris. The interior design has been done by Croatian designers from the Franic and Sekoranja Studio and Croatian furniture manufacturers. 12.11.2018. | News
Vucedol Culture Museum sees 200K visitors in 3.5 yrsAfter the Vucedol Culture Museum recently received this year's Innovation of the Year Award at Croatian Tourism Days, Vukovar Mayor Ivan Penava has congratulated the museum's staff on that achievement, adding that in the past three and a half years, more than 200,000 visitors have visited the museum which has contributed greatly to the town's development. The National Tourist Board awarded the museum for its educational projects designed for the youngest readers who can be informed, through a picture book and guide, of the Vucedol prehistoric culture and of the museum's holdings. 11.11.2018. | News
All ministries but one to get higher budget allocations in 2019The 2019 budget proposal which Finance Minister Zdravko Maric delivered at a government meeting on Friday envisages higher budget allocations for all ministries except for the Tourism Ministry, the funds of which will go down by 16.8%. Expressed in absolute numbers, the biggest winner is the Finance Ministry as its allocation will increase by nearly 7.5 billion kuna from its allocation in the original 2018 budget, and in 2019 it will rise by 21.8% to HRK 41.9 billion. 09.11.2018. | News
