€106m in grants awarded for 16 public tourism infrastructure projects

Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac on Thursday awarded €106.4 million in grants for 16 projects of construction and update of public tourism infrastructure and health and wellness tourism. The grants were allocated under the National Recovery and Resilience  Plan (NRRP) for regional diversification and specialisation of Croatia's tourism industry through investment in tourism products of high added value.

The investments concern high energy efficiency, renewables, introduction of green technologies and business models, and waste reduction, according to the minister.

The grants were awarded for the reconstruction of the Inkey Manor in the village of Rasinja, north Croatia, to repurpose it into a wellness tourism facility, for the upgrade of the accommodation capacity of the Naftalan special hospital in Ivanić Grad, the reconstruction of the Fontana building within the Lipik Spa, for the upgrade of services in the special hospital in Biograd Na Moru, and the Thalassotherapy Hospital Crikvenica, the revitalisation of the Veli Lošinj spa centre as well as for some sports and recreational facilities.

The minister said that this would benefit the tourism industry in continental Croatia and the tourism sector in general.  She recalled that €1.3 billion had been earmarked for investment in the tourism sector until 2030.
