Presenting the results of the tourism turnover in the first nine months of this year, Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin said in the northern Adriatic town of Rovinj on Tuesday he was happy with the results according to all tourism parameters - arrivals, overnights, financial parameters and employment in the tourism sector.
Cumulative data for the first nine months show that the number of arrivals increased by 5.2% and number of overnights by 3.9%, the minister said adding that a total of 11,589,272 tourists visited Croatia from January to September this year, generating 69,343,607 overnights.
"I am exceptionally satisfied with the results of the tourist season so far. We have recorded a positive trend in the first nine months and in September alone, which is a good message to investors," Lorencin said.
In the said period, the arrival of foreign tourists was up 5.8% and the number of overnights they generated increased by 4.5%.
Lorencin said Croatia had become an exceptionally important destination among global touroperators.
Financially speaking, Croatia has so far this year made between six and seven billion euros from tourism. (Hina)
