Spanish hotel group Iberostar, which manages about 100 hotels in 29 countries, and the Croatian firm Bobita, owned by Marinko Sulić, signed an agreement in Makarska on Monday on the construction of a EUR 50 million four-star hotel in this southern coastal resort.
The event was also attended by the State Secretary for Tourism Zdenko Mičić.
The hotel will measure around 25,000 square metres in area and boast more than 300 rooms. It will be built in the Biloševac neighbourhood of Makarska, and will employ 150 workers. Construction work will start next year and the first guests will be received at Easter 2009.
The agreement is one of the largest investments in hotel construction in Croatia in the last 15 years, and it will be the first new large hotel on the country's Adriatic coast.
