Private accommodation in the Croatian hospitality industry expects the continuation of positive trends this years after it performed well in 2012, the head of the family-run accommodation facilities' cluster within the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Nedjeljko Pinezic, told Hina recently.
Family-run accommodation facilities, such as bed & breakfasts and apartments rented to tourists, are booked almost in their entirety in July and August, and the peak of the tourist season seems to be extended, according to Pinezic.
In the first half of 2013, the number of guests in family-run accommodation facilities increased by 15.2% to 488,300 and their bed nights rose by 13.4% to 2.6 million.
Thus, bed nights in family-run accommodation facilities accounted for 18% of all overnight stays in Croatia in H1 2013 and is likely to rise in the rest of the year.
For instance, in 2012, the share of overnight stays in family-run accommodation facilities in total statistics of overnight stays in Croatia was 34%, while hotels and camping sites each had a share of 26%. (Hina)
