Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin visited the Starigrad Paklenica National Park on Tuesday and underlined the importance of adventure and sport tourism, which are among the ten key products in the Croatian tourism development strategy until 2020 and are being developed at the national park, the ministry said.
Park officials said they had more than 110,000 visitors annually, of whom 30 per cent are climbers who come before or after the summer, so the tourist season in the park lasts from March to November.
Starigrad Paklenica municipal tourism officials said they were improving the sport and adventure offer, notably in mountain biking, canoeing and rafting.
Lorencin said sport and adventure tourism were increasingly popular in Croatia and the rest of the world and that it was important to expand the offer. He said the Tourism Ministry paid special attention to safety measures.
The minister also visited the 4th Starigrad Paklenica Film Festival, an international festival of music documentaries, again underlining the importance of expanding what was on offer for tourists. (Hina)
