In the first five months of this year, the number of newly-employed people in the tourism sector went up by 23.6 per cent compared to the same period the year before, mostly owing to the growth of the tourism turnover in low season, Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin said on Tuesday.
There was a total of 19,600 newly-employed people in the tourism sector in the first five months which is 23.6 per cent more compared to the same period last year, according to figures provided by the Croatian Employment Agency.
Commenting these figures, Minister Lorencin said in a statement that "the increased number of those employed in the tourism sector this year logically follows the increase in tourism turnover in low season, notably in May."
Of the total number of newly employed persons in the first five months of 2013, those employed in the tourism accounted for 21.3 per cent. (Hina)
