The Austrian company Falkensteiner – Michaeler Tourism Group presented today in Zadar its latest Project ‘Punta Skala’, which includes the building of a tourist resort in the value of EUR 150 million. The location of the future resort will be near Zadar, in Punta Skala and it is expecting its first guest to arrive in 2008.
The representatives of the company explained that they would build, on an area of 460.000 m2, high-class hotels, apartments, villas, wellness centers and other interesting tourist objects.
Everything should be ready within 18 months and once finished it is expected to become the most exclusive, unique and largest tourist resorts in the Mediterranean and in Europe.
Punta Skala will create jobs for 600 employees and it will stay open for business during 365 days. It will consist of a five-star hotel (210 rooms), family hotel (220 apartments and rooms) as well as of 28 villas and additional 278 apartments, a wellness and sports center, a mall and other objects.
Zdenko Mičić, the State Secretary for Tourism, pointed out that the project was in accordance with the development strategy of Croatian tourism.
The Falkensteiner – Michaeler Tourism Group is active in five more European countries. It comprises of 40 companies and it runs 28 hotels. By 2008 they plan to build 20 additional hotels. Currently they are employing a total of 1000 to 1800 workers, depending on the season.
The same company is also the owner of another Zadar hotel – the Hotel Borik.
Mičić also used the opportunity to remind everybody of the fact that the Zadar County was leading in the number of tourist projects – i.e. the Posedarje resort (EUR 100 million), the Nin resort (EUR 50 million) and now the Punta Skala Project.
