A 50-berth marina, in which German businessman Hartmut Lademacher has invested four million euros, was formally opened in Maslinica on the southern island of Solta on Friday.
The marina is situated in the immediate vicinity of the Martinis Marchi mansion and hotel, in whose restoration Lademacher earlier invested 10 million euros.
Petar Pamin, director of HL Dvorac, the company that operates the marina and the mansion, said that they planned to receive about 5,000 vessels with about 25,000 tourists this year, adding that this would be of great importance for the economic development of Maslinica, which has 110 residents, and would contribute to the further development of tourism on Solta.
Ivo Basic, an adviser to the minister of tourism, said that the marina in Maslinica was important for the development of boating tourism in Croatia, which he said generated over 10 per cent of tourism revenues. He said that the government's tourism development strategy provided for the construction of 15,000 new berths. (Hina)
