The continuation of the successful cooperation between Croatia and Austria in tourism and the two countries' stronger future cooperation in health, wellness, rural, cycling and cultural tourism were the main topics of today's meeting of Croatian Tourism Minister Veljko Ostojic and Austrian Ambassador to Croatia Andrea Ikic-Boehm and her associates, the Croatian Tourism Ministry said in a statement.
Minister Ostojic said Austria was an important market for Croatia and expressed hope for an increase in the number of Austrian tourists visiting Croatia, notably in low season.
The Austrian ambassador welcomed the minister's proposals, adding that the two countries could develop cooperation in congress and sports tourism which is attractive all year round.
According to figures provided by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, 873,500 Austrians visited Croatia in the first ten months of 2011, up 10.3 percent from the same period in 2010. Austrian tourists in Croatia generated 4.8 million overnights in the same period, up 9.5 percent on the year. (Hina)
