Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton to be opened in Zagreb next spring

The hotel group Hilton Worldwide and the Zagreb-based company B.P. Pluto signed in Zagreb on Monday a contract on the construction of a hotel, Doubletree by Hilton, which will be a part of the office and shopping complex Green Gold to be opened in the Croatian capital in the spring of 2012. The contract on the construction of the hotel, amounting to some 25 million Euros, was signed by Hilton Worldwide's vice-president for development for Central and East Europe, Ulrich Widmer, and B.P. Pluto owner Branko Perkovic, in the presence of Croatian Tourism Minister Damir Bajs.

The hotel Doubletree by Hilton, a brand hotel of superior quality with full, personalized service, will be part of the Green Gold complex, to be built at the intersection of Zagreb's Radnicka Cesta and Vukovarska streets. The hotel will have 152 rooms and include restaurants, a business centre, a swimming pool, a wellness centre, etc.

Widmer said that Hilton's brand DoubleTree had been present in Europe since 2008. The Hilton group has 23 DoubleTree hotels in ten European countries, and 250 in the entire world.

Perkovic said that the Green Gold complex would be opened in the first half of next year and that the entire investment amounted to some 600 million Kuna.

The contract signed today is the third contract with the Hilton group in Croatia.

Tourism Minister Bajs said that 11 international hotel brands were currently present in Croatia. He said that an important element of the DoubleTree project was that it would be built in line with green technology standards. (Hina)
