A total of HRK 19 million have been set aside for three additional measures aimed at strengthening low season and as a result Croatia expects nearly half a million more tourists, Tourism Minister Damir Bajs said in Zagreb on Tuesday after the signing of a contract regulating joint advertising with representatives of airlines, including the second biggest German airline Air Berlin, which for the first time introduces direct flight to Croatia.
Air Berlin is set to introduce a route between German cities and the Croatian cities of Rijeka, Dubrovnik and Split, from May 3.
Our objective is to connect Croatia with Germany, Air Berlin executive Christian Lesjak said.
Minister Bajs said these contracts were another step forward for the 2011 tourist season.
A state secretary in the Croatian Infrastructure and Transport Ministry, Danijel Mileta, said the ministry had planned to allocate a total of HRK 23 million for the development of domestic airports this year. (Hina)
