The Croatian Tourism Days 2010 event ended in the northern Adriatic resort of Rovinj on Friday with a ceremony at which awards were given to coastal and inland tourist destinations and companies and individuals working in the tourism sector.
The award-giving ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Jandranka Kosor, Finance Minister Ivan Suker, Minister of the Interior Tomislav Karamarko, and Economy Minister Djuro Popijac.
PM Kosor presented officials of Bol municipality on the island of Brac with the award "Tourism Flower-Quality for Croatia", as the overall winner of this year's tourist season.
In her address Kosor welcomed Slovenian Economy Minister Darija Radic, who attended the ceremony, saying that the number of Slovenian arrivals in Croatia was 10.6 percent up from 2009.
The campaign "Tourism Flower-Quality for Croatia", which is organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and Croatian Radio and Television, saw another two award winners - the northern Adriatic island town of Krk, and Varazdin and Sv. Martin Na Muri in inland Croatia. Punat on the island of Krk was named the best marina, and Zaton near Zadar, Jasenova at Zaboric, and Politin on Krk island were named the best camping sites.
The best five-star hotel on the coast is the Jadran Hilton in Dubrovnik and the best five-star hotel in continental Croatia is the Esplanade hotel in Zagreb.
The best four-star hotels are the Club Funimation Borik in Zadar and the International hotel in Zagreb, and the best three-star hotels are the Park hotel in Rovinj and the Terme Tuhelj hotel in the Tuheljske Toplice spa. The Blue Flower award for tidiest coastal towns went to Porec, Rab and Cavtat and the Green Flower award for tidiest inland towns went to Karlovac, Cakovec and Labin. Awards were also given to 23 tourist workers for their performance. (Hina)
