Sustainable tourism strategy implementation successful - government

The implementation of the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy up to 2030 was successful in its first year, and according to all indicators, positive tourism trends are expected to continue, it was said at a government session on Thursday.

The report on the implementation of the strategy was presented by Tomislav Družak, state secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, who said the comprehensive tourism reform has resulted in an increase in the quality of the tourism product and the development of year-round sustainable tourism.

Results for the first six months of this year, with 6% more arrivals and 2% more nights than in the same period in 2023, indicate the achievement of the strategic goal for Croatia to become a year-round tourist destination, he added.

Croatia rose from 32nd to 25th place in 2023 in terms of international tourism revenue, and it can be concluded that the implementation of the strategy last year was successful, he said.

By adopting a conclusion on the report, the government tasked the Ministry of Tourism to submit it to the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds as the competent coordination body for the strategic planning and management of Croatia's development.
