Northern Croatian town launches €3.5m project to boost local tourism industry

The town of Gola on the left bank of the Drava River has prepared a €3.5 million project called "Bolnov Dravski Put" which consists of the construction of the river pier and the reconstruction of the old rectory for the purpose of boosting the local tourism sector.

The project, which was presented at a conference on Monday, aims at making use of the scenery and natural beauty of this town at the border with Hungary to attract more and more visitors.

The mayor Stjepan Milković said today that the future pier could accept 42 vessels.

Also an interpretation centre will be built which will provide information about the nature in Gola and surrounding areas in the valley of the Drava.

Croatia's Ministry of Tourism has set aside a grant of  €2.8 million for the project.
